It's my vacation from cancer.
After only 9 months NED my very first ovarian cancer recurrence was confirmed in September. I have no symptoms yet, I don't want any more chemo and PARP trial doesn't start until end November or December; I may or may not qualify depending on the results of pelvic biopsy that has not yet been scheduled. It is getting cold in Canada. Cold and depressing.
I decided that it is the perfect timing to have some fun in the sun. It usually takes me 15 minutes between the idea and its implementation. This morning I booked 1 week all-inclusive resort in Jamaica. By myself. My husband doesn't know yet. He thought that cancer will keep me chained to the radiator. Not bloody likely. Then I got some highlights and a haircut, mani, pedi. Tomorrow I will be getting a semi-permanent henna tattoo over the hysterectomy / tummy-tuck scars. On Saturday after 4 hr flight and 2 hr bus ride I will be swimming in the Caribbean, eating jerk chicken, drinking "Dirty Banana" and "Sex-on-the-Beach" and sampling other fine things Jamaica has to offer. I am not gonna talk, read, write or think about cancer for 7 days.
Ladies, y'all stay healthy! I am coming back Nov. 3rd, hopefully with even tan and some wet, wild and wicked stories.
Much luv,
Alexandra

Oh Alexandra!
I am so happy and thrilled for you. That sounds like a blast. I am also in awe. I have wanted to spend a few days in Half Moon Bay on my own for the last couple of years and can't find the courage. I hope you have the best time. You may have to carry a stick to beat 'em off since you got so prettied up.
Have the best time ever. I'll be thinking of you.
Bon voyage

Fun
Hi Alexandra,
You go girl! Have a blast, you deserve it, we all do..
I just returned from Key West, oh so warm, I only wish it were more relaxing.
Enjoy yourself to the max. The warm weather is so wonderful and the fun times are just waiting for you.
I only hope that Jamaica is ready....
I'll be thinking of you and wishing that I could be there too. I love the warm ocean and a great beach. Have a cocktail for me. Cheers!

If you can get the flight to Montego Bay for Oct. 26. I booked the room and it's double occupancy. I rarely snore.
I can guarantee that you will enjoy it. I have been on many vacations (and business trips) alone, and it's OK but it's always better with a buddy.

for the gracious invite but I am an old stick in the mud who is also afraid to fly. Its been over 33 years since my last flight and I always say I would only fly to get to my son if he needed me.
You'd think after cancer i'd have grown a pair and I have in many respects.
Have a great time and I'll live vicariously through your adventures.
