Hello All.

 

I just wanted to stop by and say hi, let everyone know you are thought of often and to update you on my progress.  To date I am doing well.  My two year mark is this January.  I've lost another 20lbs but I will attribute that to hunting and cutting wood.  :)

 

For all the new folks on here, I'm sorry you have to be here, but oh what a great bunch of folks to have in your circle.

 

For all those in my class (2011-12) ...I'm gald to see so many still on here.  I often feel guilty I am not participating as much...

 

Prayers whispered for all on here.....really!

    It is so nice to hear from you & great to know that your life is going well. My hubby also taught our son the ropes of survival. They had some fine times together.

    You sound like you are doing great my friend, the biggest part of healing is getting up and doing all things you love to do. My prayers are for you to continue as there is a 6 year old boy that needs you to help him become a man.

    My Husband is only on his 9th radiation and it helps to see there is an end.  Best to you and your family.

    Glad you are doing well Tim. I know you've been busy with your mom and our lives get hectic. I'm always checking in on things here even though I don't always post. Work and school keeps me busy these days.

    Great to see all of your responses, made me feel like I was right there in the middle with you all...

    Yep, I keep a 2 days supply of food and water in that there bag as well as shelter, ammo, 3 ways to make a fire and on and one I could go.  My wife thinks I sometimes wish I could get stuck in the back country...lol.  You guys should see this sled I got for a steal that tows behind my snomobile...now I can go waaaayyyy out in the back country this winter to hunt (okay, and play).  I would have to stay within 5 miles or so, no I can go 20-30 miles back, I hope.

     

    Hondo....truly appreciate those prayers...I not only have the six year old, I got the 3 year, 9 year, 13 and 15 year old in addition...and I surely want to be around to see them grow up.  Oh how often I think of those who are not here, and I whisper a prayer for their families, and too I feel so guilty sometimes....

    I have firmly made up my mind and my wife (though she thinks I'm crazy for it) is agreeable, when and however I do leave this earth for my kids sake I am having engraved on my tombstone my name, birth date, death date and in big letters "I AM NOT HERE".   I will be in heaven (thanks to grace).  I told my kids the same.  I don't want my kids coming to visit my grave and seeing this cold grey stone and dirt / grass.  I want them to go live and remember all the things we did together and how we lived!!!!  I told my kids if you want to honor me or feel me close, then on my birthday each year put a picture of me with a candle next to it, tell me you love me and you are LIVING good and well and blow out the candle!  Think of all the love and fun we had and be sure and pass it on!!!

    Tim, though I don't go out on multi-day fishing trips as you do hunting, I can relate.

    Being on the water, just in a local lake, the bay, and open flat early in the morning is a great time of reflection for me...

     

    I love it, it's just me and mother earth...

    Early one morning I was headed out to the Skyway Bridge for some grouper digging (bait getting would come first of course)... But on the way out, (just a few miles), I came into this heavy fog bank. Even though I have electronics (GPS), I couldn't physically see more than 20 - 30' in front of the boat.

    So when I got to this shallow flat that I know of (a big area of shallow water, amybe just a few feet deep). I just shut the big motor down, trolled into the fog (and out of the way of any yahoos zooming by in big boats with radar and the such...

    It was awesome, I was in this big fog, I could hear other boats, cars and trucks in the distance.., but it was liek another world within my world...

    Anyways, I just layed back on the boat, and drifted until the sun burned through the fog...

    It was so calm...

    That was the calm that I drew upon many days during rads sessions....

    I'm rambling...

    But times like those, and yours back in the woods..., they are the things that we reflect upon the life that we have lived, the live that we are living...

    Keep on humping those woods brother..., and give the young ones of yours as hug...

    Hi Tim,

    Thanks for the update. You are by far the most serious mountain man I know. If not for your kids I would not be suprised if you were living in some log cabin in the woods and living off the land. Great to see you sharing your love of the outdoors and the wild. Every day as a survivor is that much richer doing what you love with the people you love.

    I can so relate!

    Life really is worth living!  I recently had (finally) a clear scan and celebrated with a trip to Disney World and my wife surprised me with tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  She also insisted on being in costume.  Let's just say that I'm never posting those pictures.

    As we were watching the 'Boo to You' parade I was struck by how good I felt physically, but even more so how good I felt to be with my family, enjoying something together.  Sure, I'm dressed in an embarassing (at least to me) costume but I was have a great time, I felt so good to be alive and while it sounds cheesy, I couldn't help but smile and thank the heavens above that I'm alive!

    It's been a long time since I felt this good, I'm grateful to my medical staff, the people who prayed and sent the good healing vibes and the good folks on this site, strangers though we may be, we are family in a way that no one else could ever truly understand.

    I'm glad that you're doing so well, I love your philosphy.

     

    I remember the final lines from the movie "Brian's Song" and Jack Ward narrating "...it was not so much of how he died, but how he lived"

    jealous....I seem to only be gaining weight.  Glad you are doing well.  I will be two years in March so we are close on the survival timeline...love the picture!

    Great to see you well

    Glad to know you are embracing life.  reading some of the posts brought tears to my eyes because it is soo true life is different after cancer and not just because of the side effects.  You get a deep sense of appreciation for so much more.  For each is different but for me, after seeing my dad face this battle with such courage just changed my whole perspective on life and how to live it.  It is good to see you are well and enjoying your family.
