Over 2 1/2 years after surgery..mets to intestines, anyone else?

Well after 2 1/2 yrs of clean scans a bowel obstruction surgery showed the esophageal cancer had spread. Dr. Says it's a rare place to spread. Just wondering if anyone else has had this. Starting chemo on Monday. Hoping to slow this train wreck down.

Was the spread only in the bowel area?

Very interested in what the post op report showed.  Was there lymph node involvement.  What type of cancer was identified, that is, adenoma carcinoma in situ or some other type.  Was the EC spread identified by cell comparison?

    It was esophageal
The test came back esophageal cancer was compared to the original. Nothing about lymph nodes. My understanding is the surgeon went in to remove an obstruction in bowel, after getting in seen tiny spots on colon and bladder. The cancer was on the obstruction also, but that was removed. Oncology dr started me on chemo last Monday. I had them remove the pump on wed. I have had 3 rounds before my esophageal surgery and 4 more after because 1 node showed positive. This was by far the worse time I ever had with it. Going to talk to dr about other options this week. Im not going to feel awful for what might be my last holiday season. Just not sure if anyone can really know what's going on with this awful disease. I've lost faith in scans. This was the 2nd time scan was clean and then surgery showed it was there.

    email

I sent you a private email  on CSN Email with more questions.

Yes, we've learned PET scans can show NED yet there is cancer present.  Usually, if the PET misses it, the tumor is small.

You need to know if there were lymph nodes and what the tiny spots on the bladder were?

Please let us know what your doctor is going to suggest.
