Tumor marker up after Radiation

Hi All,

My Mother has sailed through Chemo and Radiation with little side effects. She went to see her Chemo doctor for first post check up since end of radiation in August.  One blood marker was slightly elevated to 5.9.  It should be 5. The doctor has ordered a PET scan.

We were told sometimes after radiation the tumor markers can spike because of tumor death.  Has anyone else experienced this? As you can imagine, I am so worried.

    Welcome.
I cant answer this as my onco does not use tumor markers. I know when any of my tests come back slightly off mine just watches them. I wish you the best and maybe someone will respond who is more familiar with tumor markers.
    Glad you found this sight.
