    vulvar melanoma

I had this two years ago, type 2 gone to lymph nodes on right side..  Had surgery to remove the cancer, then had radiation and chemo(Csplatin)      Two years clear.  There are remaining side effects.

I am 43 years old and was diagnosed Sept. 27th, 2013 with vulvar melanoma.  (I originally went to the doctor in March of this year due to discoloration and small mass and was told it was a vaginal varicose vein with no treatment for it) I underwent a radical hemivulvectomy and inguinal lymph node resection on October 11th. Metastasis found in one lymph node. Awaiting results from rest of pathological testing.  Treatment plan unknown at this time. Next step is PET scan and referral to a melanoma clinic in my state.  I am doing so much better 3 weeks post surgery than I thought I would be.  Taking each hour as it comes, striving to find joy in the small moments, and not lingering in my mind about the future.

I am dealing with this too.

I am dealing with this too.  I did not realize for many months that this type of melanoma is more aggressive.  Hope you are doing well.

    Hello!

    Hello!

I'm just checking in to see how you are faring.  This is definitely an aggressive beast we are dealing with.  I am two years out from my diagnosis, with 3 major surgeries in this time period.  At this time, I am clear, and thankful,to say the least.  Life has changed quite a bit, but overall, I'm still me :)

I hope you are feeling strong.  Let me know if you feel like chatting.

The rarity of this cancer makes us a very, very small group!

Kindest regards (and hugs) to you!
