My dad lost his battle
Wanted to tell everyone thanks for the advice and support you gave me while my Dad was fighting this horrible cancer. My dad sadly passed away on August 14th while I held his hand. Since I last posted here he did end up doing more chemo which was very aggressive he ended up having to have 3 blood transfusions and I don't think he ever quite recovered from that. He went on Hospice a few months ago and just kept on fighting to the end. He went peacefully in his sleep which I am thankful for but he sure had a long hard tough fight before it ended, I am angry at this disease and what it does to people. I have had lung and breast cancer and there is so much publicity on that and colon cancer but you never see anything about esophagus cancer and in my opinion is one of the cruelest cancers there is. That is one reason why I decided to come here today, there needs to be more awareness on EC. Originaly my dad was having trouble swallowing but never thought in a million years it was cancer, none of us did. Without surgery because he was not a candidate he lived for a year from initial dx. First DX was stage 2 and within 7-8 months he was DX stage 4. I wish someone could help/tell me how we can get more awareness out there. Maybe I will write all the Dr. talk shows they have out there who knows it might be a way to get more attention to EC. My dad has only been gone a little over a month and if feels like yesterday, this pain is so deep and I can not quit crying. He was my hero and best friend. I sincerely hope you all can beat this terrible cancer and hope your treatments are gentle on you. Much Love to all
Debbie

I am so sorry for your loss
Debbie,
I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. He is now beyond the suffering of cancer. I hope awareness of this form of cancer will increase over the coming years. So many survivors are diagnosed in the late stages of disease because doctors do not have the knowledge to aggressively pursue early symptoms.
May God bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
With condolences,
Paul Adams

So sorry
So sorry to hear of your father's passing. Wishing you and your family peace.
Many times people wait to see a doctor and that is a cause for not catching it in time. We always think it won't happen to us, only someone else. My husband didn't wait but still all the treatment didn't help. Life styles play a big part too. Mine was a pipe smoker and a beer drinker for too many years to count and we are being told this played a big part, but I don't know because my Aunt passed away from esophageal cancer and she didn't smoke or drink. So who is to say.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I
I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the pain of loosing him, my father is Stage 4, I can't imagine how I'll be when the day comes. I agree with you about not enough news out there about EC. If there had been, I might have not accepted the answers we recieved for 7months when he had difficulty swallowing. You and your family will be in my prayers.
