Newbie - sort of!
Hi all
i have been on this board before (about 3 yrs ago) I'm normally over on the OVCA board. Anyway a bit of history:
Dx with invasive DCIS in left breast march 2000 age 35 - lumpectomy & chemoradiotherapy NED till dx with DCIS (PRE cancer) via a regular yearly MRI last week - new site in L breast. Need mastectomy (have chosen bilateral) have BRCA1 gene. Surgery date sooooon. I need to decide on what type of mastectomy to have and would appreciate any input on this

I had modified radical mastectomy, what was suggested by my breast surgeon I did not do any research, as did not have time and trust in my doctors. From what I understood this type of surgery allows for future reconstruction if you decide to go for it, as well still give a reasonable appearance if you do not.
