Hi, I'm new to your discussion board, but not new to ovarian cancer. in fact, I'm a 12 year survivor. I used to belong to the ACOR discussion board, but it has closed, and we were sent to a site called SmartPatients. I joined it, but I don't really like the format there. I was dx with stage Ic endometriod orca in 4/01. I was 50 at the time and working as a middle school language arts/reading teacher. I have never had a recurrence. I am a retired teacher now (just retired in June), and I plan to sub a little in the coming school year. My hubby and I have two grown, married sons, a grandson, and a granddaughter who is due to be born in early Dec. Although we live in Ohio, our sons live in St. Louis and in the Chicago area, so travel to those places is part of our lives.I'm glad to be part of your discussion and hope to contribute to as well as learn from it.

WELCOME, KAREN!
And congratulations on your remission! My DX was in 2000, and although I had a recurrance in 2006, I am still in remission also. I'm originally from Columbus, OH but now reside in Michigan.
So glad to have you here. Your survivorship is an inspiration to many here, I'm sure. Keep visiting!

Hello Karen, nice to meet you and welcome to the board
You will find that CSN is more user-friendly and less "scientific" than SmartPatients. There are no "tags" but many lovely and supportive ladies here.
If you like, go to the thread "ROLL CALL" http://csn.cancer.org/node/259698, introduce yourself and read about the others.
You could populate "About me" page, add your picture and post blogs (blogs will appear in "Expression Gallery").
Congratulations on 12 years NED! It is wonderful and an inspiration to many of us here.
I am in Canada, 45 y.o, was dx with stage 3C OVCA in May 2012; finished first line chemo in Nov. 2012; so far NED for 8 months.
All the best,
Alexandra

Welcome, Karenpattysoo said:Welcome
It's always nice to hear about survivors. I'm driving to Columbus every week for treatment, so developing a fondness for things about Ohio.
It's wonderful to read that you are a 12 year survivor with no recurrences! I myself have been NED for nearly two and a half years, since my chemo ended. I'm a 52 year old, stage 2b high grade, living out west in California with a hubby, no kids, and one very spoiled kitty (and three neighborhood cats who practically live at our house).
