HAI and pancreatic cancer
Hello group,
My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic caner with liver mets in May. She's responding well to her GTX treatment (little nausea and pain; she says she feels "normal!", but a doctor at Sloan Kettering said she's a good candidate for HAI. It's common procedure for liver cancer to have this pump, but I haven't read anywhere about this treatment for pancreatic cancer. Her internal med doctor says "go for it," but her primary oncologist is skeptical of the procedure (if it was such a great procedure, then why isn't the norm). Theoretically, it makes sense; you have a pump that supplies chemo directly to the organ where mets are, but what are some of the negative effects??
