Finally an end to dad's trtment in sight!

Hey everyone,

I haven't been on too much lately, one because I've had problems logging on and two because I've been with dad a lot and helping mom n dad.  I've been going over and sanitizing a lot cuz mom was sick so we didn't want dad exposed to that!  He seems to be a little more positive now that he is getting nutrients... the main reason I wanted to write was to let you all know dad had his LAST chemo Monday and now has only 7 treatments left!  So there is an end in sight and he finishes the day before his bday (the 26th).

For all those just beginning, hang in there!  I know it seems like its going to take forever, but in actuality it seemed to fly by except when we had to wait for results.  Treatments are rough and hard to watch for loved ones, but hang in there.  Stay positive bc it does help our loved ones!

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, keep em coming!

Cherie

getting close to the end of treatments

    Cherie,

Pretty soon this whole nightmare will be in the past and you can look forward to your Dad feeling and getting better one day at a time.

    Bright future,

    Time Flies....

Single digits! That's great to hear! Your Dad definitely wasn't having fun but nonetheless, time still flies!

Before you know it he'll be in recovery. Remember, the first 3-4 weeks post treatment are as bad or worse than the last few weeks of treatment. It's vital your Dad continue to nourish and hydrate as much or more. Good thing he has the PEG. I wish I had caved sooner and gotten one.

From what you've posted it sounds like he's done well considering. Keep the positive attitude! It's good for you and for him too.

    The End Is In Sight!!

Hi Cherie.  I know exactly how you feel!  My brother had his last chemo treatment on Monday too!  He now has only 4 more rads to get through.  They have got to be the longest days of his life!  I am so excited I am giddy!  I won't get to see him until August.  Hopefully the worst will be behind him by then.

The best of luck with your dad.  Hopefully we will be sharing success stories in the near future!

    Blessings.

    Yes! After today, only 6

Yes! After today, only 6 more... I think I'm counting down more than dad. Lol...

I know dad's still going to feel rough for awhile, but just knowing that trtments are done is a huge relief!  He is doing much better about hydration.  Even taking some pills by mouth...but mainly just drinking lots of water.  His docs told him to get down 6 ensures a day...so I know this has been a little challenging as dad doesn't typically take anything before his radiation at 10 a.m. (at least he wasn't).  He got down 5 the last few days so I'm quite happy!

Dad still doesn't like to talk about it much- at least with me.  I've heard him dive into details with others, but I think maybe he just doesn't want to upset me bc I'm usually sensitive.  I'm proud of myself though bc I've been staying really positive and strong for him!

    Thanks again T and Matt!

    Shawn,
    I was wondering how

    Shawn,

I was wondering how much further behind dad was than your brother, as they had to move back 2 of dad's radiations- one on the 4th for the holiday and the day he got his feeding tube.  Thinking of you and your brother as these next few weeks pass!  Amen to those success stories.

    Prayers,

    Cherie
