I am new to this board. I am from Colon Cancer board but a friend of mine just had lower left lobe and wegde from upper left surgery with one lymph node envolved. Can anyone tell me what she she expect as far as post op. She is suposed to be released on Friday and we are trying to figure out everything. Will she be able to lay in bed? She doesnt have a recliner, does she need one? I know after my liver surgery I couldnt lay in bed for several weeks. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I love mms too.  I had a vats procedure to remove my lower right lobe 9-23-10.  I found it much more comfortable to be in a slanted position with pillows.  My sister was with me for 3 days after I was released from the hospital.  She changed the dressing on my back as liquid was still coming out for about 4 days.  I was back to work in a month.  I did breathing exercises daily and tried to walk daily.  After about 6 months I was much better.  Everyone heals differently.  I also visit the Inspire web site for lung cancer and there is alot of information there. 

If she had the standard lung surgery where they make a large incision the healing time will probably be a little longer.  I wish you and your friend well. Lori
