Husky Throat??

Hi all

I was just wondering if any of you had a very husky voice after the op??  I keep thinking that can happen after such a long anesthetic??  Anyone else had this?

I preferred to think of it as a sultry voice rather than a husky voice.   Mine lasted about one week. Don't worry, your voice will return to normal.

But youre right that its a common side effect of the anestethic. Seems a bit protracted though in your case since your surgery is some time ago now. I wouldnt worry about it though.

intubation

is usully the cause for a raspy voice. It goes away with time. It could be kinda sexy, or at the worst it makes your significant other at least appreciate the quiet for awhile. LOL.

my voice was raspy for three

my voice was raspy for three days. I got some Luden's throat lozenges that helped me.  The nurses said it was from having a tube in my throat during surgery. My surgery was wednesday anam fine now in that regard. Now to fully get rid 0f the recurring stomach/bowel gas.

Gas

My voice was rasby and my throat hurt for a couple of days.  Dan,  I remember it was about a week before all that gas is gone.  With the old open surgery I heard you usually had to spend about 10 days in the hospital so it really isn't that big a price.  It sure is unconfortable,   My big mistake was about 10 days after the surgery.  I felt basically ok and tried to go to work.  This was stupid  and I ended up spending 2 days in bed exhausted.  You got to take it slow.

Breathing Tube

I had the same thing and was told it was from the breathing tube that they placed down my throat during surgery.

Yep!

I find I can no longer carry a tune as a rsult.  Of course, arguably,  I probably couldn't carry much of a tune before! IMineis finally clearing up!

I have a husky voice most of

I have a husky voice most of the time but did not have surgery. I was told it is likely a side effect from the oxycodone and oxycontin I use. Some days I'll have to clear my throat a bunch of times and then my voice will be normal for a day or two. It always goes back to husky though. It's weird.

It has been 7 weeks and I still have problems with my voice.....it comes and goes.  Never did it before, so I am sure it is from surgery.

It, too, shall pass.
