Colostomy reversal

I am going in for surgery June 17th to reverse my colostomy. There is nothing in my colon as far as cancer (read my story as to why I have the colostomy). I am not having my usual treatment next weekend because of this. I know some people take tagumet, etc. before/after surgery. I this something I should be doing, even though they are not cutting into my liver (colon cancer in the liver)? I know the tagumet (cimetadine?) is seems to help prevent spreading when surgery is being done as far as cancer goes (but no colon cancer was ever found in my colon...don't ask, I know, very odd).

Hi Judy - congrats on your wedding!

My husband is having his ileostomy reversed soon too and I never thought about him taking the tagamet again.  He took it for his resection, but I don't think so in this case...hmmm.  Let's see what others say - I'll be watching too.

    Good luck!

Thanks, Jen. I don't think I need to take any, as they are not cutting into the cancerous area (liver). But, I want to make sure. As I said, there is nothing in the colon.
