Just had a good friend Dx with scc , tonsil and lymph nodes removed last wed, goes to see his oncologist and rad doc next wed. When I was diagnosed in June 2011 with scc I had never heard of tonsil cancer ... and my friend was surprised when I told he and his family. Neither of us ever smoked , both social drinkers , and like me tested negative for hpv... Guess ya gotta just shake your head and wonder .

His quote
I love this quote from him...
"I am extremely confident in my road to recovery," Kelly said. "I plan to tackle this challenge head on, as we Kellys always do, with toughness, perseverance and faith."

I think this growing problem
I think this growing problem is attribited to all the chemicals in our environment and food. It has just started to catch up with us. More and more people who never smoked are getting lung cancer too. God knew what he was doing when he created earth and all that's in it, why do we think we can make it better?

Sadly, as we all know, no one is immune to this nasty beast. I always hate to hear of anyone with this dx.

Don't be surprised
I went to Jim Kelly's website and wrote a letter to him through one of the contact's listed. I offered encouragement and invited him to join the forum here. I didn't expect a reply but suprisingly I got one! The contact forwarded the email to him and he responded thanking me and said he would check it out. We may not know it's him but don;t be surprised if he takes a peak around and even joins the discussions.

T, very thoughtful of you. When it comes to cancer, we all need the extra support. I'm sure his celebrity status doesn't make him any different. I heard on the news that his was confined to the upper jaw. Hoping that means no chemo or rads for him. Several of us "lower jaw" folks but I don't specifically recall any upper jaw people on the forum lately.
