Sentinel Node Tuesday

Yes.
node sentinel node is removed while you are under anesthesia. The lab examins it for traces of cancer. In my cache it was negative so that's all that was removed. if it had been positive more nodes would have been removed for testing. that was how it as done 4 years ago.
Hugs,
Roseann

Both negative. Two were removed because the dye went to 2 nodes.
BTW, I did not find the injection of the dye painful. Others have. It was uncomfortable but not painful. You will pee blue for a while after surgery. I forgot about that. I'm sure they'll tell you that this will happen.
I assume you'll also be having either a lumpectomy or mastectomy Tuesday? Best of luck to you.

Yes, Im having aHi Suzanne,
Yes, Im having a lumpectomy on Wednesday morning. Did you have radiation after, or chemo? I'm not sure how that's determined. All the literature is a little overwhelming.
Thanks for your reply.

http://www.nccn.org/patients/patient_guidelines/breast/index.html#/1/zoomed This booklet from NCCN is really a good reference and covers just about everything and is easy to understand.
I had lumpectomy along with 2 sentinel nodes (also had oncoplasty - s mini breast reduction to reduce the size of that breast to "match" the other), then chemotherapy because I had high recurrence score on Oncotype test, and finally radiation. I'm currently taking tamoxifen. I finished radiation 2 1/2 years ago and now see the oncologist only every 6 months. Things appear really really good and I'm planning for them to stay that way.

I had a lumpectomy on March
I had a lumpectomy on March 28th with three nodes removed (1 had a small amount of cancer). Had second surgery April 11th to remove more tissue for clear margins. I started radiation on May 24th and will be on tamoxifen. My onco had recommended chemo but I chose not to because my Oncotype score was very low. Like its been said before here that everyone is different yet we all have our journey.
Good luck for you on Wednesday.
