Annual MRI

Going for my first annual MRI today.  A little over a year after finishing chemo.  I am more nervous than I anticipated.  I have been trying not to think about it, but not that it is here I am terrified.  I love that I am monitored so closely now and if anything was found it would be found early, but these tests.....! They make me crazy.  Do you ever stop worrying about a reoccurence?  Sometimes I wish I had gone with the masectomy rather than lumpectomy:(

We all get nervous for each

We all get nervous for each and every test Wendy.  Unfortunately, it seems to come along with being diagnosed with bc.  I had a lumpectomy also, followed by rads and my oncologist told me that the recurrence rate and survival rate are the same with it as a mastectomy, as they can never take all of the breast tissue with a mastectomy.

The more time that goes by, you will think less and less or a recurrence.  But, we all probably still have that in the back of our minds.  We just don't let it consume us.

Good luck with the MRI.  Those things are so noisy.

Let us know how you do,

    Kylez

    It gets better

but I don't think it goes away.  My worry really seems to have subsided considerably (2 1/2 years after finishing treatment), yet when I had my MRI in December, I surprised myself by crying once I got situated.  What the heck was that all about?  So I guess it's always there even when we think it's not.  Time does help.

Hope you got good results.  Please let us know.  Suzanne

    Thank you everyone for

Thank you everyone for helping me feel normal:)

Speaking of "normal" my MRI results were!!!!  Just found out and why do I feel so surprised? Not usually such a negative thinker. I just can't believe sometimes everything I went through is over.  I feel so blessed but still so terrified.

Hugs to you all and thank you for being there for me when I need you.  I always know I can find an understanding ear on here.

    70% Club

In due time, you become use to them but I imagine that everyone feels nervous waiting for the result.

When you are not experiencing any pain in one or more areas of your bones, pain on the right side where your liver is located, having headaches, a dry cough more than likely you are still a member of the 70% club that never has a recurrence.  That is something to keep in your mind.

Women who have a recurrence in the same breast after a lumpectomy, just go on a have a masectomy.  It won't change your stage, it would be thought of a local recurrence and your stats remain the same.

    Glad that everything was normal,

    Doris
