Went for ct scan of abdomen and pelvis today--anyone ever try to read cd?

I asked the tech for a cd of my ct scan for my surgeon's appointment next Thursday.  I quized her whether the cd was just pictures and joked I wouldn't understand it anyway.  She said you might be able to find an example on the internet.  So of course I had to try.  Unfortunately I am clueless.

Actually I did ask for it and I am going to the gastroenteroligist tomorrow with my boy friend for his colonoscopy.  The doctor has promised to review it when I'm there but I am so impatient.

CD

I've looked at earlier scans on CD and I almost always review my current scans with my Onc. I never look at the paper reports since I'm not a radiologist and I prefer to view scans side-by-side. I will say that the CD makes for an interesting Movie Night!

I prefer to view it and ask questions... Hope it goes well

viewer?

How are you loading the software and data, Phil?  Downloaded viewer from the internet?  If you could list your steps, it could be a nice starting point.

CD

It was an original scan from 2004-05. I'm 99.9% sure that the CD had the viewing software on it. When you load the disc on your computer, look to see what files are on it. There might be one with a .exe extension which could be the viewer. I don't recall downloading anything to view it. Somewhere I have a short animation that I made of it. I'll see if I can find that and/or the disc.

I inserted the cd into my

I inserted the cd into my drive and it brought up the software.  I could select films or report.  I looked at the films but didn't really understand them.  The report was empty since it was not created yet.

Organ music

When I viewour my CD, i could ID all of my organs, but as for any signs go cancer, I had no idea. 

I did enjoy looking at my insides though.

I found a Short Video

After searching my PC I did find a short excerpt of a scan. I'll see if I can upload it tomorrow then embed it. It's more of an exercise in seeing what I can put in a post at this point.

I found that when I first looked at the animation of the scan, things I were going "Oh my" to were the normal parts of me. Not knowing what you're looking for (or at) can be tough. I found it really interesting to see my tumors, I am always fascinated by what they're able to do with the technology but early on I realized that it was pointless to try to interpret the scans myself. But that's me...

Not too long ago someone did a study where they inserted a small image of a gorilla in an X-ray or scan. Many of the techs who looked at the scans didn't notice it, they were focused on looking for tumors. I bet if it was Ms. May they would have spotted her!

First thing I did when I got

First thing I did when I got my CT scans is to load up the DVD. I knew I had cancer before my doctor. I started by comparing images of cancer and normal I found on the internet with mine. I now regularly check and analyze my scans, measure key tumour sizes etc. Its not too hard to figure out once u know what to look for and how to use the software.

I would love to learn how to read them.  I had a sleepless night waiting for results but my doctor had them faxed to him today and everything is clear.  Not even the colon cancer appeared which kind of makes me wonder.
