First of all, thank you all for answering my questions and giving support.  I feel much better when I come to this site

My husband is sceduled for his colonscopy on Friday morning.  The GI doctor said biopsy results should be back on Tuesday.  The CT scan showed thickening of the rectum with liver mets.  When should I contact the oncologist or surgeon.  Do I do it or does our primary doctor do it?  When my mom was diagnosed with uterine cancer she was hospitalized for anemia, so the process started rapidly with all doctors on board.  I feel so alone and depressed, not knowing where to go from here.

When my husband had his tumor

When my husband had his tumor found during the colonoscopy they recommended a surgeon and we called and made an appt, after the surgeon we saw the oncologist. I don't see why you couldn't make appts with both. I am sorry, it's so scary, I know.

    Thanks for the reply

My husband just called me.  The oncologist's office just called and we have an appointment to see him on Tuesday the 21st.  I feel a bit at ease that the ball is starting to roll.  I am a bit anxious about the colonoscopy on Friday.  I hope surgery is an option.  Thanks again for the support.  Four years ago I was dealing with all of this with my mom's uterine cancer.

    You contact a surgeon first.

You contact a surgeon first. Dont wait for another doctor to make the appointment. I dont. Surgery is always your best option.

    All done for me

So far, the only bad experience I had with Doctors was the ER Doctor.

The next day I had an appointment with my GP. He set me up with the GI Doctor, had my colonoscopy, cancer, the GI Doctor set me up with he surgeon. The Surgeon set me up with the Oncologist, the Oncologist set me up with the Radiation Oncologist. I have been major happy with every one of them.

Having good Doctors that you feel very comfortable with makes a whole lot of difference.

Good luck in the journey you are on.

    How to proceed:

The only thing I would like to add to the comments already made is to be sure your surgeon is a "colorectal surgeon".  Yes, a general surgeon might do a fine job but getting that specialist surgeon is better.
