tamoxifen

Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone has heard of being prescribed tamoxifen for cervical cancer. A friend was diag. with cervical cancer.  She's currently undergoing radiation (refused surgery and /or chemo) long story Anyhow, she just mentioned something about cancer drugs and when I asked her what she was taking she said tamoxifen.. I thought that was just for breast cancer. I am wondering what else she isn't telling me... I'm very worried. Thanks.

Im sorry but I have never

Im sorry but I have never heard of tamoxifen being used for cervical cancer.  What stage was she diagnosed at?  Chemo is not so bad and reduces the chances of recurrence.  Actually, compared to cancer, surgery isnt so bad either.  If she has questions direct her here and I would be happy to share my experiences with her.  Good luck.

    Thank you

Thank you very much for your quick response and kind words. I will try to direct her here.. That's what I was afraid of..I am wondering if she's dealing with a secondary cancer (breast) or is her doctor a moron...  I don't know what stage it is.. that's a hard thing to ask, and she is maybe in denial about it too.   She has it in her head that surgery causes cancer to spread (an old wive's tale) ... and let's face it , the prospect of chemo can be terrifying.

    Thanks again,
