Avastin treatment done and PET out for recurrent rectal tumor.

Dad's rectal recurrence after 5 years-post avstin and folfiri 4 cycles,PET was done 2 weeks after the last dose of chemo.

PET showed marginal response,no growth of tumor or any metastases.Is this the regular expectated outcome?SUV max came down to be 16 from 18.Size seems to have reduced.

Doctors are suggesting two things

More Avstin

or

Surgery(not clear if he can be surgically resected coz of the left pelvic wall involvement)

 

Does anyone know if we can say the Avastin is working...or what should be next steps at this stage when we see a marginal response.
