Can anyone (female) describe to me what pain you feel when your nodes in your groin enlarge?

    No pain...

    Hi,

I had multiple swollen nodes in my groin, but never experienced any pain with them. The largest one I could feel grew steadily from Jan 2010 to May, but I didn't feel it growing or any discomfort. I was "A" symptomatic, so didn't have any idea I had anything wrong with me...no night swets, weight loss, pain...nothing...just a large swollen node on the left side of my groin and a smaller lump on the left side of my neck. My Ct scan showed multiple groin nodes I couldn't feel..(8 or 9) and also multiple tumors in my stomach, which I also didn't feel. So...I can't help you with your "pain" question. Maybe someone else experienced pain with their swollen nodes. Take care and my prayers and best wishes are with you.

    Thank you

    Thanks Sue!

I started having soreness/discomfort a day or 2 ago, today it's so bad I can barely walk. It feels like I tore something but there's no way it's an injury because I'm not active at all this time of year & I sit at a desk all day for work.  Then I wondered if it could be a lymph node so I called my oncologist's office to ask. Surprisingly he wants to see me today. He wasn't concerned when I started having major fatigue, night sweats, heart palpitations, etc. But pain in my groin? Come right in lol.

by the way, so glad to hear your great news!!

Thanks...I'm very happy with my remission news also! I'm so glad your doctor is seeing you today. Unexplained pain ALWAYS needs to be checked out, in my opinion. Please get back to us and let us know what you find out. I hate you having to wait and deal with the "Not Knowing" of whats going on. Maybe today will be the turning point where you get more answers...keeping my fingers crossed for you! My positive thoughts and prayers are with you dear. Love...Sue

My Dad also had that at one

My Dad also had that at one pt but they couldn't feel any lymph nodes... He described it as you have... Hopefully it's nothing just benign soreness that will go away in time

    No Pain

    Hi,

Same here as Sue, sometimes I think I am copying her. As my only symptom was a swollen lymph node on my left side of my neck, but also have groin nodes swollen. I was told that cancer doesn't hurt, whether that is true or not I am not a Doctor. My doctor was concerned when I had swollen nodes with no pain, I was told that when pain accompanied a swollen node it was usually due to your lymphatic system fighting an infection, which is it's job. It seems as though my cancer waas a silent sneaky lil terd, but thankfully I perservered even after being told there was nothing wrong with me. I hope that you get to the bottom of all this SOON, as I well know that not knowing is the worst part.

    XXXOOO

    doctor

My doctor said he didn't feel any nodes or masses, so who knows what's causing the pain. Still waiting til June to do all of my scans/tests again. At least June is getting closer!

    Pain in from Lymphoma

Hi there.  Your doctor's lack of concern is sort of standard procedure till they have an actual diagnosis.  I hope he took a bunch of blood tests, inclucing LDH, AST and ALT.  As to your pain, I'm 10 days out from my fourth round of R-CHOP and I had no pain after the second day of the first round.  I have non Hodkin's B Call (AKA Large Cell) Lymphoma.  They can't decide if it's stage 3 or 4 as it's not in the organs, not in the marrow, but the bone showed some "mottling." I did have pain, actually a pressure pain in my groin.  Since my clusters of nodes and single cancerous nodes took a path from my left groin all the way up to my spleen and into my chest, I can tell you that initially my doctor found two very tender places, in my groin and just under the sternum where he ribs come up. All I was aware of was the left groin pain, actually fairly moderate.  I also had two very severe boughts of diarrhea, cramps and vomiting, 3 months apart, and no one has ever told me the connection.  The second one got me to the doctor.  Once the blood tests came in (about 8 or 9 vials, 25 or 30 tests) it immediately became apparent something was serioously wrong.  The needle biopsy was from the groin and not bad at all, then the CT Scan and PET Scan.  This all took over a month and by the time they got me in for chemo, I was having a lot of pressure and discomfort and my waist area was noticeably swollen on the left.  I also had a constant backache so it was sort of like having menstrual cramps all the time.  So the real pain was only only on pressing, though I couldn't make out any nodes except on on the left side of my neck.  But knowing that stuff was growing, watching my belly swell a little, I was VERY glad to finally get in for the chemo.  I also have a bulky mass on the left near my spine.  The good news is that 2 weeks after my 3rd round, the CT scan shows everything is reduced at least by half, my spleen (part of the lymph system I found out) was normal size again and the two masses there are gone.  YAY!  With this aggressive form of lymphoma, those greedy casncer-stuffed lymph nodes just slurp up the chemo like crazy and die.  And affirming others' comments, yes, each round the fatigue hits me harder and longer.  You just have to make a place in your life, slow down, tap into your spiritual side, and accept the term "it's all about ME for a while."
