Rxponder Trial Treatment

I have been reading the discussion board under BC and decided to join. I was diagnosed with BC on March 12th and I too was in shock to hear the "C" word. I was originally Stage 1 Grade 2 then after my first surgery, lumpectomy with 3 sentinel node removal I was then diagnosed as State 2 with a small amount of cancer in one of my nodes. I went in again to have some more tissue removed because they did not get a clear margin the first time. Was told on April 18th that I got an A+ and do not need anymore surgery. Now the treatment will come in and my onc has suggested that she would like to have the tissue sample be sent off for some more testing and to participate in the Rxponder Trial for treatment. If my grade comes back under 25 then they would randomly chose which treatment for me and if I agree then I do not have a choice. I have agreed to have the test done but I am on the fence about having my treatment being randomized. At first my treatment was to be radiation and the homone therapy but if I do this trail then I could have chemo in the treatment. So, I am asking if anyone has done this. I do want to help women in the future that have been diagnosed with BC but I really do not want to go through chemo.

Thank you and God Bless to all of you,

Jenifer

    Welcome Jenifer, to the best

Welcome Jenifer, to the best support group I could find.  The pink sisters and brothers are wonderful here; I do not know anything about the Rxponder Trial for treatment though.  I was also diagnosed in March, 3 days after you.  I myself decided to have a bilateral mastectomy because I didn't want the radiation.. My surgeries are Friday.  Mastectomy with reconstruction.  I will have the stage after that.  I will also be taking the anti-hormone therapy.  I was both ER+ and PR+ Her2-.   If there is anyone that has a knowledge of the Rxponder Trial.  I'm sure they will respond.. Again Welcome and God Bless!...   Kathy

    Trial versus straight tx

I wanted to help too. There was a chance I would not have chemo 50/50 if I did the study. I was stage 2B - I node positive but tumor was larger and I opted for double mastectomy. Worried at first but glad now. No reconstruction either.

the day after I signd up, I called and cancelled. My number came back 12! I am started a lesser chemo. 4 cycles of Taxotere /Cytoxin . I'm going every three weeks and will be done by the end of June. Didn't want to play Russian Roulette with my health. Good luck whatever you decide. When I made my OWN decision, I immediately felt better. It's really up to you. Good luck!

    Trial

I was also diagnosed as stage 2B but I had a lumpectomy with a second surgery to have more removed and was told by my surgeon that all is clear. He said for sure I would have to do radiation and I am OK with that. I am not sure about the trial. So, when your number came back you cancelled your trail and then your doctor recommended just chemo for your treatment, is that correct?

Just so much to think about and yest I have to make my OWN decision.

Thank you for your feed back
