Latest news on Tamoxifen....

"For those who took tamoxifen for ten years the risk of death from breast cancer 10 to 15 years after diagnosis was 6.4% compared to 9.0% for those who only took it for 5 years.
It is vital that women with ER-positive breast cancer and their doctors know about this finding as tamoxifen is currently only used for five years."

I called my oncologist, and, even though I stopped my 5 years December 2011, we are starting it again!
With all of my beau's troubles with his heart, I must do everything I can to keep myself healthy. I never had much trouble with Tami...so here I go!!
Hugs, Kathi

Great news!
I startedGreat news!
I started Tamoxifen not very long ago. I remember my doctor saying something about taking it longer than 5 years because it seemed to continue working. I told him I'll stay on it for as long as it works. Five years...ten years...
Good to hear that you are going back on it! The only things I am experiencing with it are hot flashes and insomnia...ugh. But...I will take that over what the SEs could be.
Hugs!

CypressCynthia, it soundsCypressCynthia said:I would go for it too Kathi!
I would go for it too Kathi! I did an unusual 7 years of tamoxifen because, in 1987, no one knew what to recommend-I erred on staying on it a little longer. I then had a phenomenal 18 year remission! I often wonder if only I had done another 3 years....
CypressCynthia, it sounds like it came back, if so I'm sorry and wish you the best.
