First Chemo down

Well Lymphomaniacs....

you will all be happy to know that I rocked out my first 6 hour chemo treatment today...The nurses found out that they have a wild one on their hands...lol...I talked to them with different accents everytime they spoke to me. I also wore my pink boxing gloves in there, so I could fight cancer.. I told them to schedule my treatments on days when the entertainment was good, but I truly believe they thought I was jokingLaughing!!!!

It's all fun and giggles right now while I am still feelin "stoned" from the ativan, they wouldn't give me the personal tank of laughing gas that I requested....darn them....I have found that it is very beneficial to entertain the people in charge of my "DRUGS" <-----They give me whatever I want.

Sidenote...I also found out that I could fit two doughnut holes in my mouth at the same time today....I was trying to see how fat my cheeks will look after the prednisone...lol...My best friend came to sit with me for a little bit today and she asked me what kind of food I wanted her to bring and I said Tim Horton's. She was having a very bad day and nothing was working out for her, frustration was setting in....when she ordered my food a gentleman behind her said "kinda hungry today huh" and she replied "no, its for my friend who is in a chemo treatment right now"...this complete stranger got in his wallet and literally gave her all the cash he had to give to me. he had lost both of his parents to Cancer. I couldn't understand why she was so bothered when she first came in the room and saw me she started crying hysterically...I thought oh crap cancer finally became real to her as it did for me, then she told me the story and handed me a wad of $$. <-------This was quite a day for me people!!!!

Now I am in the middle of a personal prayer vigil that I will wake up feelin ok and not "hit by a truck" like they told me I would.Cool

Much Luv

Carie

    Did it!!

    Bill and Becky,

Thank you for the thoughts. I was just telling my friend how strong, inspirational and compassionate everyone I have met on here is....and the prayers just keep rolling in...Thank you. I absolutely adore the people that are on here that post and reply; sometimes it is healing just to read someone else's journey or to have someone know exactly what you are or will be going through.

I however haven't decided if I want to be a warrior and keep working or use this to my advantage and get a nice little unpaid vacation from work.....decisions,decisions....I guess the next few days will lead me to that conclusion, we are kinda at an 'experimental stage" right now since I am unsure how my body is going to react.

Great nurses do make for better treatment....I am lucky enough to personally know half of the staff at my oncologists office, which made it easier to hear all the news.

Prednisone is not going to let me sleep for like 5 days....i might get my spring cleaning done early after allLaughing

    Much Luv

    You go girl!

    Carie,

Hope you are sleeping now. You certainly had "a day"!  Sounds like you brought a bit of sunshine to the infusion center today!  Good for you!!  You know the nurses love that!! And I am sure they love taking care of you.  Talk about a great attitude- you have that and more!!

I will pray for you that you get rest, feel well, that the drugs are killing the cancer cells (and leaving the rest of you alone!) and that you don't ever feel like that truck is anywhere near you!

Keep us posted on your progress.  Kick that cancer to the CURB!!!

    Hugs,

    Donna

    Way to go!

    Hi Carie,

Way to go sweetie...first treatment is DONE! See...it was scary, but totally doable! I feel for you with the prednisone, but maybe having youth on your side will make it go better. Us "old" folks don't like change, and prednisone REALLY changes me!Smile You hang in there, and if you need anything, just jump on here and someone will be lurking. I stay up late, so I'll check periodically to make sure you arn't wandering around cyber land looking for a friend! I'm so proud of you!

    Much love...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10-age 62) In Remission!

One down five to go, time will go really fast you'll see. Reading your post made me laugh but it also made me get teared up..because of your friend getting very emotional and also because of that man giving you $$$, people can be awesome sometimes! I'm really happy that your first day of chemo went well with no problems. Take care and sending you lots of positive energy (((Hugs)))

    Sincerely,

    Liz,
    sorry you got teared up,

    Liz,

sorry you got teared up, hopefully it felt like good tears...it has been an amazing day, two days ago you could've never convinced me that I would ever say that. I told my sister right before we walked in for chemo today "c'mon today is the first day of the rest of my life"

That random act of kindness was beautiful, this guy literally gave me his "man stash" you know the one that they fold neatly and tuck away in their wallet to hide from the wife and themselves...emergency only status....Laughing

If I can continue to have fun with this, I might just keep going back after my 6th treatment..lol...I wore my pink boxing gloves in today...I was ready to battle the Cancer. I told them to sign me up for whatever day the entertainment was the best for my treatments.

    XXXOOO

    LOL

LOL, well I must say chemo is an expensive "first date".  I can just hear an ad for a B movie ala the 50's:

(In the deep dramatic voice of the typical movie preview narrator)

... Hidden in a deep valley somewhere in California amid the residue of an atomic testing ground, lies a dark, sinister place where mutated creatures lurk behind gnarled trees.  See the "prednisaurs" - ever ravenous - take over the bodies of those unfortunates who wander into this desolate wasteland...  See " THE LAND OF THE LYMPHOMANIACS" in cinemascope.  LOL

Thanks for making me smile/laugh.  Your attitude is great!
