Off topic....Boston

Martha
Did Martha run this marathon? I have been thinking of her all afternoon. Does anyone know if she was planning to run it?
I am praying she did not have to go through this in real time.
Also praying for everyone affected.
How awful and sad.
Thanks for your post. I was hoping to see something from Martha but was concerned about being so off topic too.
Fondly,
Sandy

Sandy, gee I hope not. There are over 100 people fighting for their lives tonight. I know the doctors and nurses at Mass. General will do their very best. I can't say enough about that wonderful hospital! The best of the best.0 -

Sandy, bless you for worrying about me, but I was not at the marathon. I do not run fast enough to qualify for that event and probably wouldn't run it even if I did. However, my heart goes out to everyone who has been injured and their families. What a terrible act of terrorism. I hope they catch whoever has done this.
Your concern for me is very touching. As I have always said, cancer does not give us many gifts, but friendships like yours is definitely a gift beyond measure! God Bless You, my friend!

From the other side of the pond, words just fail me to describe how horrified I am that this could happen. My thoughts are with the people involved & those taking care of them. Also the wider community for the lack of trust it creates. This is pure terror.

It is pure terror. You just never think terrorists will hit home. It will never be the same. The world has gotten more and more dangerous the last 5 years. Very sad.
How are you??0 -

Thanks. This is one time I am very happy to be a slow runner--too slow to qualify for Boston.

How are you??When those boundaries have been breached, it takes a long time, if ever, for that confidence to trust. For many years, for that reason, due to the IRA I avoided London. In recent years we have had other terrorists to contend with, but the trust has gone. For me at least. I really feel for you and your community. I am ok thanks. 1st follow up examination under anaesthetic yesterday, & the man from delmonte, he say that there is still some scarring & and inflammation as is expected at this stage. Another to follow in 2 to 3 months. Got another mri scan in june too when I guess they will review that pesky node that they thought was involved, but has not changed in size. They can't access the node to biopsy it, so a waiting game but they say it is behaving as if it were benign. Take care lovely lady x

Thank you for your kind words. I was so touched that you were worried about me. I did run yesterday, but on my treadmill in my basement. While I long to do another marathon someday, I'm not sure the legs can do it again. I will be attempting my first 15k on May 4th., which is more doable. Terrorists be damned--I'm racing.

I am not in the city today, but have family safely locked down. The whole city is standing still and holding its breath. What a horrible, crazy world. I have appointments in town on Monday. I hope everything is resolved by then, or I may reschedule! It is so sad to see my hospital with armed guards out front! What a nightmare!0
