third chemo tomorrow April 16th

Hi Everyone!

Tomorrow is my third chemo. Also, right before chemo I see my Dr. to find out the results of my CT scan to see if the Chemo is working.

Let's hope it is!!! Last night I had my first nausea with chemo. Does anyone have a reaction to some foods such as it makes you nauseated? That you

maybe didn't have before?

Thanks,

CindyUndecided

    Nausea

    Cindy,

If you are not taking Emend for nausea, ask your oncologist about it.  It works amazingly well ! Emend is a series of three pills, which must be taken in a precise order.

    Nausea

    Hi Cindy,

Good luck tomorrow with your chemo and scan results. By my 3rd round of chemo my tumors had shrunk 40%, so hopefully yours will be shrinking also. I didn't get sick with my chemo, but did have medicine on hand in case. I think it was called Zofran. Some foods would taste a bit weird, but nothing actually made me get sick to my stomach. Talk to your doctor and get something for the nausea. Take care and my prayers and positive thoughts are wuth you.

    Much love...Sue  (FNHL-2-3a-6/10-age62)

    Nausea during chemo

I had a problem with the sauce on a cheap frozen pizza but since chemo disrupts the digestion process any food could possibly upset your stomach. The other thing that helped me was eating oatmeal before taking prednisone on the 5 days after chemo.  Best of luck to you.

    Hi Cindy,

I am thinking about you and your big day today. I hope your scan results are good and that you have nurses as wonderful as I did to make the 5 hours of r-chop as pleasant as possible.

    Hi Cindy

    Hi Cindy,

Hope your chemo goes well today and your scan shows much improvement! I only got Rituxan for treatment so I didn't have any nausea but I hope you feel better...let you Dr or nurses know about it, I'm sure they'll take care of it. Take care

    Sincerely,

    Liz

    Hi Cindy

Hi Cindy.  Good luck today!  I didn't have much issues with nausea and the prednisone made me very hungry so I ate a lot.  A couple days  before, during and for about a week after, I avoided acidic foods - mostly to prevent mouth irritation.  This is so ibndividual for folks, it's hard to recommend anything.  They have really good meds for nausea and hopefully you won't have any problems.  Hope your scan went well!

    Hugs - Jim

    Shrinking...

    Hi Cindy,

That is good news the tumors are shrinking. I had one stubborn tumor that didn't respond well to chemo, but finally did with the Rituxan maint. 50 and 30% shrinkage sounds great to me. If you still have questions about your scan results call your doctor and ask to have a consult again. We should always understand everything that is happening no matter how much time it takes for our doctors to explain. Thanks for sharing your results and hang in there. Prayers to you...Love,Sue

    Great News!

Yay! That is wonderful news after two treatments, Cindy.  I agree with Sue - ask your doctor about what you don't understand.

    CT

    Cindy,

I have not seen where you state your type of NHL, but the chop is clearly doing a lot of good.  If the one node did not reduce, I would ask the doc about possible locialized radiation in that one spot, or "seeding," where radiation is planted into a specific tumor.  (NOTE: I have never received any medical training in my life, but have read massively on oncology for several years).  There is not always a "cook book" response for oncologists to use, and they require, at times, a bit of artistry and creativity in figuring out how to proceed.  Very often, they will consider a patient's imput and thoughts, as long as it makes medical sense.

As best I can recall, my first CT after beginning treatment showed about 60% overall reduction (I had a lot of large nodes scattered about), but a few had reduced less than that (but all had shrunk). I remember being disappointed and a little worried, but he assured me that the results were "excellent" and "well on track."

Two or three cycles is when most people get assessed, exactly like you (and I) received.  Ask the doc his gut impresssion of your results.  Gut response is a lot better than pre-canned verbage and statistics !    Doctors actually appreciate us asking questions and demanding clarity. DO IT !  ALWAYS get a copy of any test results.  They can be studied at home, and make a lot more sense later, than when they are laid in your lap in a doctor's office

Remember, prayer is the best medicine, and is effective when nothing else is...
