Spice
My brother Bud passed away last week from prostate cancer, he would have been 65 today. I posted this on the Healing Well forum Bud frequented.
Once again thank you all for the mutual support you show not just my brother but for each other. I'm not the type of guy who runs to the fad cure of the month or who is easily swayed by miracle cures - I tend to be somewhat level headed. ( others may argue that point but ... )
I am reading a book called Healing Spices by Bharat Aggarwall, PhD of MD Anderson in Texas - it outlines the curative impacts of different spices - there is a growing body of evidence that certain spices can prevent cancer. Flying home from Buds funeral I'm reading that prostate cancer is one of those cancers that certain spices can slow or stop the growth of. Flying home from Buds funeral...
I will be sharing this exact post on the Cancer Survivor Network forums I use as well and will be adding spices to my diet. If nothing else I will be eating some tasty foods soon
hang in there and good luck to you all
Ed
many other cancers are mentioned in the book as well - I felt it is important to share this with as many as possible. I certainly wouldn't recommend abandoning traditional medicine but this is worth a serious look. For example you can google: spices head and neck cancer - read some of the info available, look at the research sources - why isn't this info readily available to all of us
I got the book on Amazon. Good luck

Ed,
I am sorry to hear of your brothers passing.
If there is a coffee enema count me out (or maybe in).
Matt
Thank you both for your condolences - it was a big shock
Coffee - I prefer only one way in and a different way out for this guy ;-)

Add my sympathies, too....
I'm very sorry you lost your brother.
I've been hearing about cinnamon for everything lately. Is that the kind of spices we're talking about here?
LOL @ Matt....only you'd have coffee enimas stashed in the back of your brain....You always crack me up.

Greetings phrannie51
Cinnamon is definitely one of them - cinnamon has been shown to reduce blood sugar levels which is good.
The book lists 50 different spices, quotes their benefits used by various cultures, details studies done and by whom, and has recipes for each.
One of the biggie spices is curcumin, the main component in the spice tumeric, has been shown to help combat head and neck cancer - the source of that study is UCLA Jonnson Comprehensive Cancer Center.
reading on in the book, it claims that pepper enhances the other spices
no mention of coffee enama's though -- whew ;-)

I love Cinnamon!
With shakes, oatmeal etc. it's wonderful. BUT... DO NOT use it if your mouth is sensitive during treatment!!

my last chemo treatment I was SO hungry. I saw a recipie for baked cinnamon French toast....hmmmmm (I thought). I soaked the bread in the eggs for 24 hours, then put this wonderful cinnamon/brown sugar/butter topping on it and popped it into the oven. OMG what a mistake!! I never had anything burn like that in my whole life. I still have trouble with cinnamon....I tried that same receipe just a few weeks ago....still a tad ouchie.

eating
funny how foods affect us all different
early on during treatment I ate an apricot and it burned my throat
a couple of days later my daughter gave me an orange to eat, I was thinking uhh ohh if an apricot hurt an orange is going to be murder. My daughter gave it to me and I didn't want her to worry any more than she already was so I ate it... It tasted like an orange, by this point my taste buds were just about shot but I did taste that orange, not good but it didn't burn either

thank you for that - I'm back on the forum to honor my brothers memory and encourage others to hang in there - this is a tough cure but it is doable. i didn't "discover" this forum until 4 days after my last treatment in July 2011. i really could have used it while I was going thru my own little version of hell.
Maybe I can help others
take care
