How's Larry?

My stubborn husband
Thank you for asking....Larry is miserable. He will not listen and the Dr says to wait and see. He has already lost 35 lbs. He is taking in very little fluid ( 60 0z) in 7 days, counting popsicles. Last night he told me that he doesn't want me to tell him what he needs to do. He refuses to go in for IV. Dr. says we will end up calling ems when he passes out. This is very unlike the Larry I know. He also did this through his cycles of chemo and ended up in the hospital and they cancelled his last cycle. It is what it is. He will learn the hard way and postpone his own recovery. Thank you again, being the caregiver is very trying.

Being the care takerLaura,
Being the care taker is VERY HARD!!! Does Larry have any infections or running a fever. Everytime my father acts that way he has either had an infection or fever. The patient does get mad at the care taker, it really stinks to be in that position. Your doctor can order someone to come in and hydrate him at home so that he doesn't have to go to the hospital. I think that's why he's really fighting the issue because it involves going to hospital. For some reason my father was the same way, refused to go to hospital so the doctor ordered the hydration to be done at our home. Funny thing was he fought and kicked with my mother and I, but yet when the nurse showed up he was as nice as can be. I try and remind myself that this is the disease taking control over dad's emotions, sometimes it helps, or I just walk away.
**I'll say a little prayer to get the grumpy out of larry and bring the one he follows directon out of him **

Thank you for the kind words and special prayer. Larry will turn around...I wont have it any other way! I can't imagine how he must be feeling. What a roller coaster. I remember the first visit with the radiologist, she said " the marathon has just begun" and she was right. I'm so glad is coming along. I read one of your replies on another post and you and your father, Jeff have been through alot. He will get there...hang on! Prayers
