I had immediate reconstruction last May and love the outcome. I'd do it again. No rejection of your own tissue and there's feeling in the breasts. No need to worry about implants. The surgery is long and recovery about two weeks but once behind you, it will be worth it. Linda
Thanks Linda for the info. I am scheduled for a double mastectomy late June 2013. I had ovarian cancer March 2012. Trying to decide on reconstruction-- worried about infections issues.

Just wanted to wish you good luck with your reconstruction. I had a lumpectomy, so, I really can't offer information for you.
Hugs, Jan

I had DIEP Flap back in 2004. I am very happy with the decision. You abdominal muscles aren't compromised so - no lifing restrictions. I would HIGHLY recommend that procedure over the others.
Wishing you good luck too!
Hugs, Angie
