First Urologist Visit

Okay, thanks to all of you here, I was prepared for the news. I have my surgery on May 14. The mass is very irregular and, according to my urologist caused kidney function to cease in that kidney a long time ago. Her opinion, at this point of course, is the surgery is likely the only treatment I'll need, with of course the expected caveats! I had resolved myself to at least that much on the drive down.
Surgery wil be done laparascopically.
In spite of expecting the news, I found I was still a little numbed at hearing it confirmed. Oddly enough, we went home and celebrated, which astonished my grandaughter! She finally understood that we celebrated because it is curable, that I have a second kidney that is perfectly healthy, and that I have my family at my side through this.
You people are amazing! Thank you for what you do!

No need to thank anyone - we all had to join, and most of us with zero knowledge. You're becoming one of us and can help others in the same way as you are being helped - that will be practical thanks. and appreciated, in its turn by future newcomers.
Of course, most of the data you "veterans" talk about is utter Greek to me now, but I'm learning. I'm a quick study and will pitch in where I am most needed. A gentle nudge occasionally will help since I'm so far behind in the reading
