My husband was told he had colon cancer it will be 3 years this coming May. He had surgery then chemo for a year and a half. Had 9 months off and then he was told he had peritoneal mets. He has been on chemo for 16 months this time. His body couldn't take it any more. He had to take a chemo "vavation". He had off for 5 weeks. CEA wnet from 289 which is pretty close to where he runs to we found out today 455. This is the highest he has ever been. This is why he has so much belly pain. We knew in our hearts that something was going on. He had a good 4 weeks, Me and the kids (10 and 22) felt like we had him back. It was awesome. Then the last week lots of pain and sleepless nights.

He is such a trooper. He still works monday thru thursday 10 hour days so that he gets all of his hours in.

He is on Irenotecan, 5 FU for 47 hours, Zaltrap, folfox and erbitux

I am very scared he is only 43 years old and we have lots of plans for when we grow old together. I have no more tears left. I love to see your positive stories and also good advice.

It sounds like a very hard situation.

I'm so sorry your family has to go through this.  Unfortunately there are a lot of us with crc in our 40s; at least in the online world, it's depressingly common.  Have they talked to your husband about HIPEC?  It seems like many people who end up with peritoneal mets have this, and for some, it's highly effective.  Sending some strength and a hug your way~Ann Alexandria

Sorry to hear about this latest setback. This cancer is such a cruel roller coaster. I've been doing chemo 3 1/2 years and so many good days and bad days. I think your husband needs more rest...his body needs it. He is working a lot of hours. I pray this is just a short bad spell and the good days are just around the corner. Jeff

Sorry you're both having to deal with this crappy disease. As Ann mentioned above, HIPEC can be very effective for people who's mets are contained in to the peritoneal cavity. My husband had this surgery. Good luck.

I'm sorry your husband has to be in such pain,I hope he gets better.I will pray for him,and send good vibes.I spent alot of nights in pain just looking out the window myself.I also think he should rest as much as he can.Good luck.

Who is "they"?  Has he met

Who is "they"?  Has he met with experts that do HIPEC or IP chemo?  I had extensive peritoneal mets from appendix cancer, and that is considered the normal treatment - IP chemo or HIPEC.  I had IP (at Sloan Kettering.)  Does his facility do HIPEC?  If not, they might not be the best people to decide if this could be an option for him.
