Cirrhosis - Variceal Bleeding - DIC
Hi, my Grandpa is suffering liver cancer now. Cirrhosis. He's in the hospital, ICU.
For the past few days, his condition is not very good. I think he's condition is pretty much severe already.
Few days ago, he had this gastro-oesophageal variceal haemorrhage. I searched on the internet, it's because of portal hypertension.
The doctors suspect DIC (Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation).
It's pretty much complicated. Do you have any experience related to this?
I also searched in the internet about researches in treating cirrhosis, with the condition I mentioned before.
As we all know that heparin is controversial with cirrhosis. But there's some research about Prophylactic use of LWMH (Low molecular weight heparin).
Do you have any idea about that?
My grandpa is already 78, is it still possible for liver transplantation?
And his complications..
I read on internet, some articles say that age doesn't really matter, and doesn't affect the severity.
Any suggestions about that?
Thank you very much.
