New to the site, not so new to cancer

Hello All,

I was diagnosed on Sep 11, 2012 after a comlete hysterectomy and removal of an 18" tumor.  Just finished 6 rounds of chemo with Carbo/Taxl and starting radiation first week of March.  Differing opinions on what to expect from radiation, some say eat lost now, I will need the weight, my Doc says it won't be necessary to put on the pounds. Any advice on coping with radiation is appreciated, chemo wasn't great, and yet not horrible.  I have no hair, eyebrows, or eyelashes and was not able to make it the local Look Good Feel Better, trying to not look like a ghost of my former self.  Doing a pretty good job (most of the time) of staying upbeat and positive, but have my private pity party from time to time.

Welcome Jennifer!

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but know this is a great place to be for support.  I was guided with open arms when I started and sorta like I'm taking the batton on to help others.

We just had a posting this week titled 'RADIATION'.  When you go to the main part on our side, go down a few topics and look for RADIATION.....link on and view many of the postings as this area might answer a lot of your questions.

Wow...18 inches -- I can't imagine!!!!!  Mine was something like 2 centimeters in my uterus.  Did you feel something growing inside you?  We do read about many women pushing it off to gaining weight.  Well...at least you're hear to tell us about your journey and we welcome you with open arms.

This is a great site to be at. 

There was recently a "Roll Call" thread. In this thread, members told their personal stories, many of them were very inspirational and very positive. Some of the members have had to cope with a fair bit and they are still here and moving forward - it's good reading.

Thanks Jan for the warm welcome, I actually looked about 8 months pregnant, and it was a rapid uncrease in size, they initially thought I had two separate cancers, ovarian and Uterine, because the path report was just not conclusive enough, but most of the reports I read from my records, they simply refer to as Uterine IIIC.  My CA125 post surgery was 1052, and after 6 rounds of Chemo Carbo/Taxol it is down to 2.  I made the mistake of putting everything off as menopausal symptoms, as I as 48 and my mother went through a similar menopause experience, minus the cancer.  I can't understand why it has taken this long to find this site, but certainly glad I found it.

Thanks Norah, the link worked perfectly for the roll call.  And the little bundle that is my avatar is Otis, my 1 year old Bernese Mountain Dog.  He has been a blessing to my husband and I through this crazy journey we are on.

I as well put off my symptoms to peri-menopause, so didn't see a need to rush to the GYN.  Well what did I know after all the tests, but luckily my doc didn't play the "let's wait and see if spotting stops", but pushed me to do an ultrasound that same day.  Rest is history~

Good luck and know you'll get thru this as we all have....
