My Husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer
Hi all I have been reading this sight sporadically for a few months.. and it has been very helpful.. My Husband (Chuck) was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer July 2012.. he had his right Kidney removed shortly after.. the Biopsy showed Clear Cell mixed with something else..at that point the belief was they had gotten it all.. but recommended 2 month instead of 3 month scans.. because of the more aggressive morphology.. his first 2 month scans came back amazing.. no new and a few spots in his lungs that concerned them had shrunk..I should tell you prior to the Cancer Diagnoses he was a smoker.. he has been smoke free since July 14 2012 (very proud of him)His 4 month scan showed a spot on his liver(which was biopsied and shown to be the same cancer) and some growth in his lung(of uncertain origin could have been a cold).. since he is in "Good health" except for the Cancer.. they recommended HD IL2 treatments.. We started the treatments in January.. and we are currently in our 4 weeks wait for scans period..He took 6 doses the first round and 4 the 2nd.. his heart rate is what stopped dosing both times...His heart did not like it at all..He suffered the bulk of the side affects the first time after dosing stopped..We are hopeful! We are hoping the scans show something productive so we can get to round 3 and 4...we know HD IL2 is our best shot at him beating this thing..He has a very positve attitude about this all... but we both get scared...We lost a daughter in a car accident in 2004 and he says... this is nowhre near as bad as that... he says we can beat this we could not beat that...and he's right.. reguardless of the outcome March 5th.. we will remain hopeful and searching...Just thougt since I have been lurking and soaking in you all's knowledge and experiances I should introduce us(Chuck and I ) If anyone is reccommended to undergo IL2 treatments I would be happy to answer any questions I can... Thanks Again

Chuck's attitude
Having endured a terrible loss, having found the fortitude to give up smoking and the guts to take on HD IL2 and be so positive, Chuck certainly deserves the good outcome we'll all pray that you get. his philosophy alone will carry him a long way and with luck the therapy will do the rest.

No matter how the next scans
No matter how the next scans come out, keep looking for options. My husband was diagnosed with RCC in Nov 2009. 6 months later mets were found in his bones and adrenal gland. He did IL-2 in July 2010 he had 9 treatments during both weeks of round 1 (had to stop due to hear complicatons as well). Since there was no improvement to the size of the adrenal tumor, he was not elgible for additional rounds. In March of 2011 he participated in a clinical trial (which included IL-2). Here is the link. http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00720785?term=nct00720785&rank=1. I honestly think the IL-2 is what kept things at bay. He had another met pop up last march and he is now on Inlyta. Good luck!

My husband started Inlyta 4 weeks ago and I see your husband has been on it since last March. How is he doing on it with side effects and with his scans?

His initial scans shrunk the tumor he had in his adrenal gland and they have been stable since. The bone involvement is still there, but the med seems to be doing the trick. Next scans are in March, so we'll see.

Is he taking either Xgeva (Denosumab) or Zometa (Zoledronic Acid) for his bone mets?
If not he should be.
