Nobody wants to use much less see the word 'hospice' but please remember it is not only for end of life care. Most areas have a not-for-profit hospice group, as well as for profit ones your insurance may pay for.

They are there to give advice and encouragement, information and support and many things a family needs. I agree, your husband's doctor is trying to be kind while at the same time preparing you for an eventuality, whenever it happens.

Ask your husband's doctor a referral to hospice: it cannot hurt to talk with them and should not cost you anything financially.

It is an important step for a caregiver. Dependent upon David, you can talk to him before you call but I do think giving them a call may give you some peace of mind, Vivian. You are just talking: you aren't committing to anything.
