Cabin fever

Hello everyone !

I'm out about a month from surgery and doing good....but because of this rotten flu that's going around in our area I've been stuck in the house.  It is really hitting hard here, had a call from the kid's and people (friends) that they know are in hospital on respirators.  Normally very healthy people.  I cancelled my recheck appointment down at the U of M and they told me they would reschedual for 2 weeks out.  And they thought since I was feeling pretty good....that I would be better off staying home for now.  Hoping other areas aren't being hit as hard.   Hope this finds you all doing well...good thoughts sent out to everyone !    Katie

    Bad Flu Season...

    Glad I got my flu shot..., there is a lot going around, and it's reported to be pretty bad this year...

    Stay home, the only people at medical facilities are sick people...

    I use to hate going in for check-ups... Go figure, I make sure to limit my exposure to sick people, and the place I have to go and wait, was medical facilities full of sick people...

    Cabin fever usually hits

    here in February....LOL.  You've very smart staying home, tho...and avoiding anybody who even knows someone with the flu...you sure don't need that.

    Hubby took me kicking and screaming in for a flu shot last week....I work alone, only see him at home....and haven't had the flu (or a flu shot) since 1991.  I didn't think I really needed one.

    I'm delighted to hear that you're feeling frisky enough to get cabin fever.

    In seclusion

    Katie,

    Right before Dans surgery, we started to seclude ourselves (that was in early November!) - and through all his treatments.. Most family and friends will celebrate holidays when not feeling to well, or not worry about the kids sniffles..then the flu outbreak.. 

    We haven't seen anyone but his mom and one other couple in almost 4 months.. I get ya!

    but grateful Dan (I am touching wood) has avoided all the bad germs.. Me too!

    Flu no good

    While we were in the hospital David had to be tested for flu.  It hurt so bad he cried.  Thankfully he was negative, but they encouraged us to stay isolated as well.  It will be spring before we know it.

    Stay home...

    My dad is also very much taking of himself right now. He doesn't even go to pharmacy or a store. It is a flu season now and the best thing to avoid it is to stay home and open windows every day to get some fresh air in the house.

    You probably miss wheeling around the country side at warp speed or does this time of the year slow you down.

    cloudy, raw weather

    that's the month of February.  I always get down in the dumps this time of year anyway.   So I plant stuff indoors.  Sprouts.  UV light.  It always lifts my mood.  This week I planted my broccoli and cauliflower.  Next will be tomatoes.  The hard part is the tomatoes will be so big before transplanting to the garden.

    Wise decision

    My docs have a fit because I go to the gym, due to all of thaware at, dust that is actually dried up dead skin cells and of course people who come in coughing and sneezing. I have been fortunate to have nearly perfect blood counts while going through chemo, and so far so good.

    Wish I could share the cabin. But I've got to crawl out for more chemo. At least, Cancer is still the big enemy. Let's hope my docs and I can bring it under some kind of control.

    face mask?

    MIke,

    If you have concern about picking up germs at the gym, have you thought about those throwaway face masks? As I am just starting on the induction chemo regime next Monday, protecting myself from airborne nasties is something I need to consider while out in public. Personally, I have no issue wearing a mask while out in public. It is not common here in the USA, but quite common in some other countries; although, that is more a courtesty to not infect others. LOL
