Does Scarring from Cyberknife grow
Dad is 2 years NED from cybernife in lower lobe of lung. It was Stage 1. He was not a cadidate for partial lobectomy due to other health issues. So he underwent three treatments of cyberknife followed by chemo. His last ct shows his "scarring" has increased in size by 1 cm in diameter. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the scar gets larger with time. He will have PET Mon. to rule out return of cancer. Results TWO weeks later. I can't believe he has to wait that long. Can anyone help me out there?

Scarring
This is a question that should maybe be answered by the oncologists that monitor the site at cancergrace.org. It never occurred to me that there could be growth on a scar. As for waiting two weeks for the report, that is ridiculous. It is evaluated before they release you to make sure it is readable. The radiologist reads it and the final report is written up within 24-72 hours. You should be able to pick up a copy of the CD and report. i had a doctor try to pull the two week wait on me for a biopsy. I took the CD and report to my Internal Med doc and had her read it. She got the radiologist on the line and had him confirm what she read. Sometimes the reporting doctor may draw a different conclusion than your doc.

cyberknife
Hello !
I'm not qualified to answer....but saying this I recently had a part of my lower lung removed a month ago. And from what I'm reading and being told the lung will #1 have scar tissue....#2 fill in or expand. So I'm pulling this out of the air but I would say probably. And please remember always until they say it's cancer it's not ! I know the anxiety will still be with you, but please try to stay positive ! Also I agree 2 weeks on a report is ludicrious, shame on them ! Good luck to your Father ! Katie

Hello! I am told the scaring in the brain at least is almost as bad as cancer, it grows and impedes the function of the brain. It will have to be surgically removed in my head, just a matter of time, If they dont know the diffecence, they will have to do a biopsy. I have ha dtwo brain surgies and 4 cyberkives of the brain, I do have stage iv lung cancer, 30% growth i founf out yesterday, it could be scar tisse of cancer, they dont now.
I hope I of a little help!

thank you
thank all of you for your help. i've now started a new thread since i have different questions. some still the same, but new thread a bit more precise in my questioning. I cannot believe he waited 2 weeks after PET to go to dr. only to hear, we will send disc to specialized radiologist, so come back next week, and we will schedule appt with surgeon. i really have to give kudos to moffitt in tampa (my cancer center for me) . i feel a bit angry at this type of "medicine."

The woman who started this thread ahead not been on line here since 2/13. She was dealing with her own cancer as well. No telling where she is now. I strongly urge you to ask your question of this over at cancergrace.orgHappy
