lung nodules
Just curious everyones take on this and their opinion. I was diagnosed with pap thyca in Oct 2012 had a TT Nov 2012 with "blunt" neck dissection with 4/40 lymph nodes being positive also, the muscle tissue was removed and positive. 1 week after my surgery I had terrible back pain and my primary care told me to get a CT scan. Little did I know then that was a big no no because it was with iodine and now has put off my treatment until late Feb. Here is my question. I recently went for another CT scan with barium for back pain and it turned out I have 6 kidney stones, but it also found a 6mm nodule in my right lung and a 2mm nodule in my left lung that for sure weren't there 6 weeks ago. My endo says just to wait for the pet scan, but I am nervous if they grew that fast what if they keep growing? Has anyone else had this or maybe dealt with this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi - when are you having a pet scan? is it before your RAI WBS?
I think she said she like to do it on the tenth day. Is that to chek for other malignancies if any? I also think she said by then she can see the uptake??? I am just nervous because they were not there 6 weeks ago.

Hi! I had a TT and RAI back in 2011 due to Papillary Thyroid cancer...
Short version Started having chest pain (feb 2012) and Xray showed indeterminate amout of lung nodules. Doctor recommended following up with x rays every 6 mos to make sure they arent growing.
Chest pain was dismissed as a muscle thing from working.
Repeat Xray in July 2012 showed the nodules to be stable. Still having mild chest pains intermittently that was taken care of with ibuprofen.
October 2012 started having chest pain that was severe sent for Stress test and Echo... Echo showed fluid around the heart... treated with anti inflammatory and repeated Echo and the fluid was gone but I was still having chest pain.
Sent for a CT with contrast on the 14th Results show that my Nodules in my lungs are growing (did not tell me size) and that I have swollen lymph nodes in the center of my chest that appear to be stable.
I am going for a PET Scan this saturday...
I am worried and not sure what is going on... Have you had your PET scan yet?

No, I have to wait until the end of Feb for my pet scan and radiation because I had a CT scan done with iodine in November and I guess it take at least 3 months for the iodine to go out of your system. The last Ct I had done was with barium so it souldn't affect the treatment. I am getting more then the tracer dose because in surgery it had spread to lymph nodes. Please keep me updated. Good luck to you!
