How is everyone?
Despite the fact that we seem to have been "Shanghaid" lol!, I hope everyone is still hanging in there and that the new year is off to a good start for each and every one of you. I was just thinking about some of our members who have not posted updates in awhile. The guilty parties know who they are, I'm sure! Please post a short update if possible and let us all know how things are going.
As for me, I'm not complaining! However, my new year started out with a cold and some sort of intestinal bug. "I'm sick as a dog, but havin' the time of my life!"--Gomer Pyle, Andy Griffith Show. "This, too, shall pass!"--old Persian quote.
Everyone have a good weekend!

Hope you feel better soon! The Persian quote is my Mom's favorite.

Thank you! Whatever this crud is that has attacked me, it's hanging on and has moved into my chest. Flu or cold, I don't know--I just wish it would leave me alone! I hope you're doing well.

So sorry to see that your not feeling good. Take care. Be careful with letting that stuff settle in your chest. Don't want to end up in the Hospital. Guess that's coming from someone that has Asthma. Always worry about the lungs. Lots of rest and old movies .thats definitely what the doctor ordered. Get well soon. Chicken soup coming your way. Sandy.

Thank you. I agree, I may be at the doc in a box later today. And I have a huge pot of chicken soup simmering right now!

Feel better soon....
Hi Martha,
Hoping you are back to feeling well soon, you are the one we all look to for answers on health/recovery so need you up and going. (I sometimes think we get a bug once in a while as a forced reason to rest though, so enjoy those old shows for a bit first!)
My guess is some people have not posted due to frustrations with getting on this site....got to just keep trying.
I for one, had a great Christmas with friends and family. Did some day trips, and a couple overnight. I have big plans for the New Year as I am going back to college. Although I went for a couple years 35yrs ago, I never graduated. I will plan to graduate with a degree in human services. I figure I have nothing to loose. I may or may not work in that field when done, but just want to finish what I started. I admit, I'm a little nervous, but think at this point I have done a few things MUCH tougher than school.
If it doesn't work out, at least I tried.
Happy New Year to all!

Hi Martha,
I know this crud is going around. It starts in the throat, I was fortunate to stop it before it reached the lungs.
Update: 6-30-09 completed treatment for stage II anal cancer.
9-23-10 had vats for lower right lobe lobectomy.
So far so good on both ends lol.
Now Suerelays you need to let us know how u are.
I hope this is the best year for everyone, sending out healing thoughts.

Thank you for your kind words! You may be right, perhaps this is my time for some rest. The worst part is I've lost my voice and can't cheer for my Colts today!
I'm glad your holidays were wonderful and I admire you so much for going back to school, determined to get that degree! I never finished college either, but so far, have had no desire to go back. Maybe someday! I wish you all the luck in the world with your goals--I know you can do it!

Hi Martha! Hope you're feeling better soon. A nice warm tequila drink may help get rid of whatever bug's got a-hold of you. See here: http://www.yummly.com/recipes/hot-tequila-drinks.
Eihtak, I admire you so much for going back to college - best of luck!
I'm doing well - off and on issues with the runs, difficulty walking distances - but other than that, fine. Just had my four-year checkup in October and all is well.
Best wishes to all of you going through treatment and those who have finished. Happy New Year to all!

Thanks for the get-well wishes. I laughed when you mentioned tequila--I had a snifter of sipping tequila last night, but still woke up with the cough, etc. I'm hoping the chicken soup will cure me!
I'm glad you are doing well! I had a bout with cranky bowels last week, so I can sympathize with your occasional issues. I'm so glad to hear your 4-year follow-up was all good news! I wish you the best in 2013!

update
Sorry to hear you are not well Martha. Time to be kind to yourself again!! Take heed!
Got 16 more rads to go. Developed vaginal thrush due to either chemo or the prophylactic antibiotics I am on for duration of treatment, so I was very sore on Friday after being treated for thrush. Need to explore options for thrush treatment throughout protocol I guess. Neutraphils down to 1 last wednesday so hoping they pick up in readiness for next bout of chemo due 15th January. Feeling tired and the odd bout of diarrhoea depending on what I have eaten (dairy.....lesson learned). Although I haven't officially reached middle of treatment, I only have 3 weeks left, then some healing time!
Take care everyone.

I'm doing well. Still have issues with "the chute" at times. It's the new normal. I'm sure it's from the radiation causing stenosis. (Actually I think I ate too much chocolate during the holidays). Some days I feel like the energizer bunny and need to slow down. Keep thinking I have to get things done before going back to work on Monday, but I'm retired! Lol! I'm 19 months post treatment and all tests have been fine. Next check up is in May. My 3 chickens keep me busy - lol! Doesn't take much to entertain me - lol!
Hope you're feeling better by now. According to the news this is a bad flu season. I got a flu shot and keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get the crud.
Hmm, maybe you need a hot toddy?
Feel better soon!Ann

I'm glad you are doing well, despite a few "chute" problems, which I also experience, even after over 4 years. I did get a flu shot, but I think the stuff may have gotten me before the shot kicked in. I'm off to report for jury duty this morning. I hope they think I'm Thyphoid Mary and dismiss me!

Hang in there--you are halfway done! I'm sorry you are dealing with the thrush and I hope it can be treated. Good luck with the next round of chemo and keep us posted!
