Hootie Girl's Obituary
After battling breast cancer for more than two years, Katrina Lynn Larson passed away peacefully at her family home Tuesday. She was born on May 21, 1991. Her short life was full of experiences as even the number of countries she visited rivaled her own age of 21. With a smile that shined on the acting stage, she brought joy to those who witnessed her growth into a beautiful young woman.
Despite her illness, Katrina looked upon herself as a fighter, not a victim. She lived life like a hand reaching out to grasp every moment, seizing every opportunity and never missing a chance to meet new people and touch their lives. With a passion for the arts, she dazzled on the stage in community theater, and even in her final months began a New York Film Academy screen writing class, determined to tell her own story. She loved our own NBA team, the Thunder, and fancied the older Nick Collison.
Katrina graduated from Heritage Hall in 2009, and held onto many of the friendships formed there. As a nursing student at the University of Tulsa, she was a proud member of the Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Chi Omega.
Services will be held in Oklahoma City in the chapel of Crossings Community Church at 10 am on Saturday morning. A memorial service will also be held at 6 pm on Thursday, January 17th at the Tulsa University Chapel. Vondel L Smith and Sons will host a visitation Friday evening from 4 to 8.
We ask that contributions be made here, in the form of donations to this Katrina Lynn Larson Pink Ribbon Memorial. Your donation will go directly to the Susan G Komen foundation, which funds research and supports those with breast cancer
