The Cancer Survivors Network (CSN) is a peer support community for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, families, and friends! CSN is a safe place to connect with others who share your interests and experiences.
Thank you for being a part of the Cancer Survivor Network community. Survivors and caregivers like you have played a unique role in fostering an online environment that encourages connection among those needing support, community, and education. On May 28, the Network will be discontinued. More details are available here . If you have any questions, contact CSNSupportTeam@cancer.org. Thanks again for the support you’ve provided each other over the years. We remain committed to supporting you in other ways throughout your cancer journey.

My mother is (was) a healthy 81 year old, we found out yesterday she has stage 4 lung cancer.
She has never smoked but was exposed to second hand smoke for many years, but hasn't been for over 20 years. We go back next week to discuss the otions of therepy. I'm just hoping to hear some input on what to expect.

Also Non-Smoker
I also never smoked but was raised in a household of smokers. I have laryngeal cancer that has metastasized to the lungs. Just starting on the lung journey myself. I don't have much advice to offer. I am trying to improve my diet, and I hope this will make a positive difference. Rick. -
Did they perform mutation
Did they perform mutation tests? As a non smoker there is a strong possibility that she is EGFR + and that they can prescribe Tarceva for her. It is not without side effects but I understand those are manageable. It is also easier on her than chemo or radiation. Of course that is a big if..... The following is a list of questions put together by the staff here. I recommend you print them out and write the docs answers
