    That is a very good website, compiled by another friend of mine. Yes, I've been at this long enough to have quite a few friends in the world of anal cancer. Fortunately, a couple of them have been kind enough to put together a lot of helpful information for the benefit of others. I hope you got some good information from the above site.

    You're welcome.

    Just spoke to the radio oncologist (he called me at home to reschedule our Tuesday appt.) He's very optimistic that there'll be no loss of sphincter function from radiation. Lorikat, I think that you'd said that you had a 3cm (or a 2cm) lesion touching the sphincter and no loss of sphincter function, is that right? He's going to prophalactically radiate all lymph nodes in the groin and abdomen. Did you have that done as well? (I'm asking you only because from what I can tell, I think that your tumor and mine are about the same size and location with no metastisis for either of us, if I'm not mistaken).

    Actually, my tumor was FIVE cms. I have no loss of sphincter muscle, and had no surgery. I have urgency issues, but know every bathroom in town! I have no metastisis but am stage two.

    Yes, they radiated my lymph nodes. Can't really always tell if there is a stray cancer cell there, and I believe that is usually the first place for it to travel.
    I am happy to have the extra insurance because I am not sure if radiation can be done twice. When I started this journey I had to make the decision to trust my doctors. This is not easy to do, but worked for me. The treatment is really tough, and afterwards was (is) harder for me. I am NED one year and do not know how to "relax". I am learning to put myself closer to the top of my list. You will too... Good luck and God bless. Lorie
