i found a lump, hard spot, ridgey area under my incision on my right mastectomy side, left side had the cancer, noticed while i was brushing my hair, saw this shadow and felt of it and almost jumped back. im 10wks post bilateral mastectomy. had my husband come and feel to make sure i was feeling something and yes he felt it to. now since the surgery i know every inch and milimeter of these to sites, still having to pack a wound in the effected side so im in there 2x aday messing with them. Called surgeon today and he reassured me that it is probably nothing, its been enough time for underlying structures to be seen and felt, there was no evidence at all of cancer in that side, already had an appt for the 10th and he felt sure we could wait, he plans to do ultrasound. just wondering if im panicking or has anyone else noticed something like that, just need to hear from you strong women so i can quit spazzing out!!!!

Hi Jan,
It could easily be
Hi Jan,
It could easily be scar tissue...I have quite a bit of that and some of it does feel like a lump. I hope that's all it is. So sorry you are waiting till the 10th...can you move the appt forward to reduce the wait? Be sure and let us know your results.
Hugs,

It's always scary
It's always scary when we find a lump, bump, knot or what ever. Try not to panic, but it is good to be cautious and have it checked out. Many times they turn out to be nothing or totally unrelated to cancer, but for the small instances they are something, it's best to catch them early. I had a lump develop in less than six months in my reconstructed breast, so it's possible.
Keep an eye on it until your appointment. If it changes in size, becomes inflammed, becomes painful, etc, call your doctor to get in earlier.
Keep us posted.

Samething
I had the same scar a year or so ago. Mine was scar tissue. My dr had me massage it to try to get it to break up. I was so affraid to touch that area but it has helped. I also put heat on it before I work on it. All the best....Marianne0 -

I had/have the same thing after my lumpectomy. The RO and MO say it is just scar tissue and/or tissue re-arranging itself. Hope yours is the same!

Freaking out is common after diagnosis
Hi,
I didn't see an update. I sure hope that it was only
scar tissue. After a diagnosis, that come out of nowhere
and pulled the floor from underneath your feet, it is very
hard not to freak out. But over time, you get your grip back
slowly but surely. Let us know what you found out.
Hugs,
Ayse0
