I just thanked someone on another thread for sharing positive information. Now I am so grateful to have the opportunity to share mine. My father was diagnosed on Aug.1 with primary liver cancer. He had an 8.5 cm tumor. At first, they told him nothing could be done, then they said a liver transplant, finally he went to MOFFITT Cancer Center and they told him no transplant bc of tumor size and his age (70). Hope was offered by way of therasphere and nexavar. Yesterday he received the news of his 1 month after therasphere PET scan. Remarkably, they told him he is the best responce they have ever had to this treatment, the tumor is 60% dead and shrinking!! I cannot describe how good those tears of relief felt. He has been so positive all along. I knew he would fight this, and I had a good feeling this time. But we were still amazed at how much progress so quickly. So for those of you who have just received a diagnosis, cancer is not the death sentence it used to be. Science is developing new treatments all of the time. It is amazing what they can do anymore. Hold out hope, beleive that there is hope for a much longer life expectancy. I hope this helps someone out there. I know how devastated I felt when I found out he had cancer. Not to mention finding out the next day my mom had lung cancer. She is doing pretty good too. I know three months ago, I was a devastated only child. But as time went on, I tried to focus on what positive thoughts. I was grateful for the fact that they were both remarried and have great spouces to help care for them, I was grateful they were able to see me graduate college, get married, and give them 3 beautiful grandchildren. Now, I am convinced there is a good chance they will both be around in 5 years to see the oldest graduate high school. Life can be good, even when you are living with a loved one facing cancer. Find the good and love each other. Stay positive and HOPE> God bless you all who are going thru any of this.

    Thank you for you words of encouragement.  Can you tell me about the treatment your father received?  My mother was dx with HCC with mets to bones.  Doing radiation for pain control of back, Zometa infusions once a month, Flex seed oil. milk thistle and will start Nexavar after radiation.  i would like to know more about your fathers treatment so that can ask my moms doctor about it.  Its been a difficult two months.  Ive been struggling with my hope ad faith!  THANK YOU for your words, its gives m hope for my mom. Please keep u posted on your parents progress..  God Bless
