spinal accessory nerve damage is almost the norm after
radical neck dissection. Here's a pretty good review. The term to describe this finding is "winged scapula," appropriately enough. http://www.surgeoncosmetic.com/article-spinal-accessory-nerve.aspx

Pat
Joan,
You are an excellant care giver. God bless you ! I have asked about this myself and was told it was due to my radical resect done. Praying for you guys that all continues to improve each and every day ! Katie (and yes please remember to take time for you !) -
keep moving forward
Joan,
Well I learned something today “winged scapula”.
Like P51 I am happy you are moving into single digits. As for Thanksgiving, I had to go through a couple of “big family meals” while I was not eating. If he can eat, great, if not, make him a special smoothie.
Best,
