Wanted to pass along this recent article on a new biomarker for agressive prostate cancer. The biomarker identified is serum glutamate and evidently the article implies that the glutamate receptor is overexpressed in primary and metastaic prostate cancer.

For you hard core researchers, what is the function of glutamate in the body, how is it normally produced, and is there any correlation with blood glucose levels? Dr. Myers has stated that a significant portion of his patients are already diabetic or marginally diabetic when they show up at his door.
