Called in sooner for dx update
Wasn't suppose to go in til Nov., for PET scan....got a call from Masonic this a.m. and wanting me in for a CT guided biopsy of my lung. I was more than a bit taken aback. The tumor board had finally met, and sorted through all of my past records, scans and re-did the pathology. Seems they want to reclassify my staging...and believe I have mets in the lungs and bone. I should be a mess....but am very calm. I made sure that the specialist I see on Thursday is a specialist in adenoid cystic carcinoma. Was reassurred he is. What a rollercoaster ride this year has been. I told the gal that called, I want to discuss options before they set up any procedure. Will update as I find out more. Hells bells....think you may be in the clear and whap ! Thinking of you all ! katie

Glad your calm
and hope you hold on to the calm as long as you can. I know the axiety is there, but you are doing the right thing by letting them know you want to be in charge on possible procedures and discuss them accordingly. Praying all will be well. Katie you are a strong lady and we have enjoyed knowing you are out there and the many responses you have helped me with. I will be praying for you. -

Well s***....
How did they go from a colonscopy to this? Is this taking ALL you history, ALL your old pathology, and records, and coming to a conclusion? I'm so sorry you are going thru this...especially after the scope just the other day. I'm thinking ok...lets get this biopsy done, it ain't cancer till somebody who KNOWS it is, says so....
Sending a host of prayers and positive thoughts to you Katie....this ain't fair!!

A Good Plan
I hope your team comes up with a good treatment plan for you. If you are anything like me, your emotions will tend to be all over the place. However, I hope you can find some really good times in the days ahead. All of us cancer patients, and our caregivers, must attempt to hold onto the good times and simply plow thru the bad ones. Phrannie,
I guess I knew I was ducking under the radar for too long. I did not have a team in place a yr. ago that knew anything about ACC. Heck, until 5 mo's ago I knew squat about this dx. I have had this in me for a very long time. I now have doctors with knowledge on how this dx travels in the body and what to look for. I also have educated myself...not that this helps relieve the anxiety. I was promised by the medical oncologist that if my body is able to, they will aggressively attack this demon. So here goes girl. I've seen you all fight and fight with all you have....I will do no less. Katie -

Ditto1,
I hope I can keep a level head...and I promised myself at the start of this I would stay well informed and make the best possible choices for myself. The strenghth of the group is helping me get through some impossible days. Katie -

You've certainly had more than your share to deal with. Your strong logical approach will serve you well. I will keep you in my prayers that it is not mets.
Candi
Candi,
I have no other choice than to be proactive. I am positive I am with the right group of doctors now.....each dx is unique in my eyes. Little anxious on mets, but what do you do ? Would explain my body kicking my butt the last few months. Thank you for your prayers (everyone) ! Katie -

Jan,
It's weird...the calm before the storm ? Or maybe just the knowledge I have a team of specialists in my corner that treat me as an individual. Katie
