Thank You Everybody, finally staged

Larry was staged yesterday at T3N1, grade 3. The Dr said his tumor is quite large about 6cm and through the wall of the esophagus. He said quite advanced. He placed some clips at the top and bottom of area to be radiated. Larry will go next week for pet scan and meet with radiology oncologist. He has settled down somewhat, however I'm sure it will be a roller coaster ride. Hopefully I can catch up some things at work today. Then I will be able to spend some time on here and be able to respond to each and every one of you, and maybe pass some kindness along to some others that are part of this group. So busy...

This definitely is not for the faint of heart!
Hi Laura,
I'm glad that your husband is staged and you now are able to get onto the business of starting treatment. I just wanted to chime in and say even though he has cancer, life does go on, and you shouldn't have to feel like you need to walk on egg shells. Dave and I are just dating (both divorced after long term marriages) and live 40 minutes away from each other which makes things challenging at times. We still get into squabbles, cancer or no cancer, and last week illustrates it best. Dave got incredibly good news that the chemo and radiation had worked beautifully, but we were in the middle of a huge argument at Hopkins! I am literally sitting in the waiting room at Hopkins having a fight (in hushed tones of course!) I was so perturbed with him that I truly couldn't experience the joy at that moment of hearing how well he responded to treatment. We have since resolved that issue, but I bring it up to illustrate how life does go on, and the issues that you had prior to dx are still going to be there, and to be sure to take good care of yourself as well as the patient! Dave had warned me that he could get cantankerous during some of this, and not take it personally, but we still have treat each other well! So hang in there!
