Bit of a set back
During chemo, they kept hitting me with all different anti-nausea drugs, but nothing would stop it. This really came out of the blue on me. Nothing was different about any of the meds. My weight is a bit down, but about the same as when I started chemo two years ago. So, now I'm weaker and more exhausted than when I got home from the hospital.

I was just thinking about you today, Doc...
worried because you had been a little quiet of late. I'm really sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time of things. Nausea has always been my least favorite side effect (not that there is ever such a thing as a "favorite"). Have you tried Ativan for it? 2 mg, 3x a day, was the only thing that helped when I was barfing my guts out while on FOLFOX. Kind of knocks you out, but it was much better than having to set up base camp next to the toilet for days on end. Wish I could send you some of my medical mj...that worked pretty well too. If you have access to it, legal or not, it's worth a try. The edible form (as in, brownies) is particularly effective. Sending hugs and strength your way~Ann Alexandria0 -

Hope you get better soon!
Did they give you the big guns for nausea BEFORE the chemo? Like pain, nausea is difficult to get a handle on once present. If they could set you up with zofran and maybe some ativan perhaps this wouldn't happen next time.
Sorry you had such a pukey time and hopefully the powers that be will be on top of this in future.
I hope you feel better soon and I'm sending my very most positive vibes to you everyday!

I hope your feeling better
I hope your feeling better by now. The only thing that made me that sick was being pregnant and they told me to eat crackers! Really?
I was lucky during chemo, i never had a problem with nausea.
Sincerely hope you NOW get a chance to rest and recuperate.
Hugs,

That stinks
Pray you knock the nausea real soon. You sure have been through the stinger lately. Get well soon. Jeff0 -

Doc, I hope you feel better soon. I can take pain better than nausea. Be gentle with yourself and I hope good days arrive quickly.

That's one thing about nausea is that it brings kings and paupers alike to their knees! It's hard enough trying to think through the chemo fog but when you're trying to bring your toenails up, it's impossible to think about anything.
They did hit me up with Ativan but by then it really was too little too late. The last time I had this bad a reaction was a year and a half ago, and mj didn't even do anything for it. Thanks for the hugs and strength!0 -

I'm not sure if they started with the anti-nausea drugs first or the magnesium, I'll have to ask today when I go in for disconnect. They did give me a dose of Ativan after it had started and I was taking oral Zofran as well as the IV and even inserted a Fenigrim which I refer to as "Finnegan's Wake" (helps me remember the name of the drug) because they're both a pain in the butt.
Feeling stronger today. Still pretty shaky and sometimes feel like I'm going to fall over when I walk without a cane. But at least I'm not relying on the walker anymore!
Thanks for the good vibes!0 -

Crackers are almost a miracle cure sometimes. They're real good at absorbing the crud in the gut that's making you sick. Unfortunately on Tuesday the chemo center was out of them and I'd brought along a different chemo bag that didn't have any. Got some real good sleep last night. Of course, I'm ready for a nice long nap already and I've only been up for 4 hours.
Hugs back at ya!0 -

I'm right there with you, taking Zofran and don't know which end to put in the toilet. Tomorrow has to be better. Hope your feeling better.

Hope you get past this nausea real soon! Sleep is good, can't be nauseated in the zzzz zone. Take care of yourself.0
