My sister was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer
My sister whom is 30yrs old just had a large mass removed from her right ovary that ended up being cancer. They also removed her ogmentum(spelling) ? and her lymphnodes even though the doctor said they looked good. They did leave in her left ovary an uterus which if they were affected by the cancer he would have removed them because he said saving her life was his priority.
We are still awaiting the final pathology results. He suspects it may be a rare sarcoma type but not sure? Now most I have read about have had total hysterectomies? He also thinks possible stage 3? So many unknown details right now.
Looking for any survivors or patients dealing with something similar?
Nothing like this runs in our family. She is young and very healthy and you wonder why her? She has a positive attitude and she is a fighter.
Thanks for your prayers and positive vibes!

I am so sorry to hear of this. I pray your sister has a quick recovery. Will she need chemo? Be supportive and listen to her fears. Bring her books, snacks, music to distract her. If you need anything, come here and we will be glad to help ...Val0 -

I am praying for your sister as she prepares to start her chemo treatment. I agree with Maria - chemo is doable!
I know this is scary for you too - we're here for you.

Her official diagnosis is retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma.
She will have 6 rounds of chemo starting once she is healed from the surgery.
On a positive note she is young, healthy, and the mass they removed which was wrapped around her right ovary, the lymph nodes and tissue surrounding the mass were all negative noncancerous.
So there is hope!
Thanks for the continued prayers.0 -
Hi Angie. I am new here. I
Hi Angie. I am new here. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on Tuesday, October 2nd. I also do not have a history of ovarian or breast cancer in my family. I had a hysterectomy and awaiting the results of pathology report. They did do a quick test and feel it could be Stage II or III. Good luck to your sister. She will need lots of support. "HUGGS"0 -

I was diagnosed 1/12 with stage 3C, did six rounds of cisplatian/taxol, finished in June and I am now NED(no evidence detected). I was scared out of my mind to do chemo. It wasn't so bad. With the right meds she will get through it. I finished thinking that it wasn't half as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Come back with any questions. Encourage your sister to come join us. Being here helped me tons. Talking to people who are going through the same thing is great.
